FA Appoints Terry Powell of FranchisEsource Brands International to Serve on Diversity Institute
Southbury, CT - With its mission to promote and foster diversity and inclusion within the franchising community, the IFA's Diversity Institute's Board has appointed industry veteran Terry Powell, CFE, CEO and founder of FranchisEsource Brands International (FSBI) to serve as a member on the Diversity Institute's committee. FSBI is a multi-brand franchisor principally engaged in growing solid concepts into major international franchise brands such as The Entrepreneur's Source, Decor & You, Business Advisers International, Business Partner and FranchiseSearch
"Terry Powell's commitment and passion in support of franchise development and his support for IFA educational activities over the years makes him a great asset to our Institute," says John Reynolds, president of the IFA's Education Foundation. "As a leader in the franchise community, Terry's insight of the industry will help us meet our goals bringing economic empowerment to a multi-cultural market," he added.
The Diversity Institute serves as the home for the IFA's Education Foundation's diversity and minority programs which focus on education, research, scholarships and liaisons with other national organizations. The Institute provides information to assist IFA members to expand their diversity recruitment and multi-cultural marketing efforts at all levels - franchisees, employees, suppliers, and consumers.
"Creating economic opportunities for all through franchising has been a life-long effort of mine," says Terry Powell. "As a member of IFA's Diversity Committee allows me to extend my reach even further and help the industry understand that diversity and inclusion should be a business growth strategy," he added.
The Diversity Institute focuses on 4 areas promoting diversity and inclusion in the franchise industry:
- Research - Document best practices in diverse franchise recruitment, employee hiring and retention and supplier diversity; establish a baseline of participation by minorities and women in franchising.
- Education - Help IFA members incorporate diversity into their systems and build on existing programs
- Communications - Increase diversity communications within the IFA and to external audiences.
- Fundraising and Resource Development - To support expanded diversity efforts.
